![]() ![]() ![]() But the primary reason why it’s better, or at least why i believe it’s better than DS1 is because of the character development. if I were to run out of ammo, I could just wait until my stasis fully recharges then slow down enemies and run past them to get to the next segment.Īs everyone else is saying, the graphics in DS2 are a lot smoother, as are the gameplay mechanics. ![]() I understand arguments that DS2 improved the gameplay of DS1 by buffing stasis (in terms of regeneration), kinesis, and melee but I think they were an unintentional step backwards the gameplay dynamic of ammo conservation is a cornerstone of survival horror, and though it doesn't take much competence to avoid running out of ammo in Dead Space, I found myself less engaged in DS2 than DS1 especially because I could be careless with my ammo consumption and avoid being punished for it since I had so many ammo-less tools at my disposal. I'm convinced that there are more fans of DS2 with the main reason being it's clearly more action-oriented in both style and gameplay and would therefore appeal to a wider audience than DS1 which will be relatively more niche due to its greater emphasis on horror than action. DS2 is still a very good game but I don't think it's better than DS1. ![]()
